The Shack

I'm not sure if any of you have read this book, but it is a must read.  I purchased it at Sams Club for our first trip out to Michindo Youth Camp  3 weeks ago but never got around to reading it.

Finally last week on our way to Mississippi camp without the girls I was able to start the book.  I want to talk with Paul about it... It's amazing!  He kept tell me to be quiet that he wanted to read it first.  Like he would ever have time.  He does all the driving, then he takes his little cat naps during the day.  When would he have time.  So before we left I purchased it on itunes for $5.99.  It's was cheeper than the book and oh so much better on MP3.  Anyhow...  as were driving I look over at Paul and he is crying. ( I love my sensitive husband, who cries at most movies! lol)  My eyes were moisten a few times too!  Wow, we were able to talk and discuss it after he was finished.   It will definitely get your mind to thinking.

I'm not telling you anything about it just incase you haven't read the book.   Has anyone read this yet??

Memory Lane Monday ... Amish Life

Lancaster Pennsylvania, summer 2003

I had just started reading the Series of Beverly Lewis.  Which I love and hate at the same time. I love the books and the author, it's the tradition of the Amish that gets me flustered!!

It was so cool to go right into the city and area where the books are taking place. Seeing the Amish way of life was so interesting.  We went on a buggy ride that took us to a few Amish homes to buy the goods that they made and baked. I thought the cookies were kind of bland myself.

This photo here is of Autumn at 3 years old.  She loved the ride up until the horse decided to...well,  you know!!  

These people are with us.  Most summers we traveled with a team,  Lacey (the Nanny), Eric and Jason (the grunts).  Each summer we had different guys travel with us.  These days we just travel with the family.

I'm still reading Beverly Lewis books,  I can't get enough of her.  Ask Paul it drives him crazy.  I'm no good to him while driving in the car traveling.  He wants me to keep him awake and I can't put the book down.  I don't even hear the kids calling MOM, MOM, MOM!  Drives him crazy:)

My friend Lacey won these books by Cindy Woodsmall and loaned them to me for our trip to KY this past week.  This is the first book of the series, I'm on the second and will soon be on the third.  I like her, but I still prefer Beverly Lewis.

The Pastor where we were for the Church Plant Conference, Michael Knight reads about 20 books a month, that just amazes me.  You could tell, he was very educated.  He must be a speed reader!!

I've starting my seasonal job.  It's not really a job because I love it so much.  I've worked for this individual for 8 years now. (my I'm getting old)  This job is such a blessing for our family, it helps us get through the winter.  Anyhow, I listened to the whole book today on Autumns ipod.  It's one of the top sellers right now.  It was good!  I'm hoping to get a lot of reading (listening) done in the next few months.  I'm Looking for the bible to download.  Got any suggestions?

Paul is handling the transition well,  he told me the other day he couldn't wait for me to go to work so he could spend time with Lillie. (momma's girl)  They've been doing well, and Lou is still going on the potty!  No accidents!  Paul has had dinner ready the past few night!  Blessing!  He made chicken Alfrado (spelling?) tonight. He did great!  What a good hubby I have.  He appreciates me going to work.
