Goat... anyone?

So you all know that we have Boar Goats, which is a meat goat not a milking goat.  Paul kept telling me that we were going to raise goats, not only for our freezer but others.   You see that little guy in the green collar thats in front of Autumn...  he was dinner this weekend.

This weekend we went up north with our friends Tom and Kathy.  Our goats are at their barn. They purchased that little buck just for eating.  We can't eat ours because the does are pregnant.  We all needed to know what it tastes like if we were all going to put it in the freezer.  Paul was sooo sure that I would like it.  He had done so much reading and researching.  Mind you this gal does not like Venison.

Tom cooked the goat in a dutch oven and placed it in the ground and covered it with hot coals.  It cooked for about 2 1/2 hours.

He cooked it with lots of stuff, peppers, bean, onions...  I want you to know that I am a skeptic!!  I am not a fan of wild meat,  I don't eat it, I don't like it. Venison to me taste to gamey no matter how you cook it.

Here we all are eating our delicious goat!  I hate to tell you that we all went for seconds!!  It tasted just like beef to me.  I would have never known.  I can't believe I'm saying this, but Paul... you can fill our freezer!!  Tom and Kathy, I'm so glad we're in this together!  Here is to many more goat roast!!

Our Goats, but not on our farm.

This is not our barn, but I wish it was.  It's a beauty!!

The Houles who are friends of ours have parted with us in raising Boar Goats. He is housing them for us and we are awaiting our first babies in May.  We should have 8-10 baby goats.

This is El-Rock our Buck

Last night we went out to their house to trim the hooves.  Tom and Paul are learning together.  This is their first time.  They did great!   They feel like pros now.

Lillie is going to be a great goat keeper.  She loves to help and loves the animals.  You can see in the background the Houle's 4 little piggies!  They are going to be roasted on an open fire.  Not now!!!  Later when they weight 250.

Autumn was really excited to see Linus her llama.  He is staying at the farm to keep guard. This pictures was taken when we first arrived.  The girls were so excited to she how everyone has grown.

Fresh Eggs!

Loving the fresh eggs.  We only have two Buff-Orpington Chickens, but that supplies all the eggs we need for our family.

 • 1⁄3 less cholesterol
• 1⁄4 less saturated fat
• 2⁄3 more vitamin A
• 2 times more omega-3 fatty acids
• 3 times more vitamin E
• 7 times more beta carotene

Paul picked up this double yoker the other day.  Look at it next to the other fresh eggs!
You Know, I never dreamed that I would have chickens!  Funny!

I signed up Autumn for Jazz and Gymnastics.  She love them both.  Tonight was her second week.  I think she's hooked.

You won't believe it!!

This is our Miniture Horse "Lucy.  Last week after we left camp we took the animals home.  They were with us at camp for the petting farm.  We left the next day to go to our next camp up North.  We were home less than 24 hours and look what happened!

We did'nt even know that Lucy was with horse!  If you look close this little horse is only 5-6 notches on the fence. Shes so tiny.  These pictures are about when she is 36 hours.

We hav'nt been able to see her yet.  We are so excited.  Autumn is looking forward to putting Charlie Bown into 4H.

So weve made it thogh our 4 weeks of camp!  Hav'ent had much internet so i'll post more about them later.

We got to our hotel tonight (were in Buycrus, Ohio) and the girls are just stareing at the TV.  They hav'ent seen one in serveral weeks!  Too funny!

Animal Lover? Continued...

Here is a picture of our 3.45 acres. We love it out here. This is just the front of the lot. We have an acre of tress and 2.5 acres of open field behind us. We are hoping to build debt free within the next two years. We are so excited! We are renting a house two houses over. Were not here yet, but the animals are.

This is Lineal the Llama...

This is Lucy the mini horse...

We also have some Rabbits, Fancy Fantail Pigeons, some baby chicks... Were picking up another Miniature horse named Fashion and were looking for a few Boer Goats! The fam is in heaven... however I still think the beach is more like heaven. I know this is good for the girls and Paul. This is Paul and Autumn's thing. Autumn will be learning to be responsible. Were already booked at many camps and this is sure to be a great addition. EIEIO!

Animal Lover?

I am not an animal lover... my family is.  I think I'm out numbered.  We went to look at a miniature pony today.  And I feel in love with this little "roo"   I'm doomed, I hope I'm not crossing over.  This little gal stole my heart, she will only get about twice the size she is now. She's soooo cute.  All of us loved her.

We went to look at "Fashion" this miniature pony, the girls loved her.  She is older but is great with kids.  Lillie was walking behind her and patting her butt.  I guess that is a "no no" in the horse world.  See I'm learning.  We haven't picked her up yet but, she'll be coming home soon. We have to get ready for her.  Probably within the week, we'll keep you posted.
We had a great day today looking at all the different animals this lady had. (Lemurs, Squirrel Monkey, Bush Baby, Wallaby, Macaw, Cockatoo, Chinchilla, Rosellas & lots of Miniture horses)  She had a beautiful place.  I can so see my husband doing this.  More to come about our farm. EIEIO!!!  HA!

Don't Laugh Lacey!
